    Who we are

    Karuta 2020 is a global project which aims to promote a traditional Japanese card game called 'Karuta' toward 2020, Tokyo Olympics year. It is run by the project team consisting of 3 karuta organizations such as FROM JAPAN Institute, Kyoudo Karuta Association and Suginami Karuta Project, based in Tokyo, Japan.

    What personal data do we collect?

    Data from Online Forms

    If you communicate with us using our online forms we may collect data from you in order to reply to your questions or to provide the information on your requested service, such as:

    • Name
    • Email address
    • Country you live
    • name of your school/organization
    • Information related to your enquiry

    We download this data and store it securely on our PC server which will be accessible only to Project Leader. We will not share any personal information with the third party.

    Data from your entry to Creative Karuta Awards(contest)

    When you submit your entry forms by post, we may collect data from you in order to process your entry.

    • Name
    • Date of birth
    • Age
    • Email address(es)
    • Postal address
    • name of your school/organization

    We will use any personal information to deal with the contest and to notify the winners of the result. We will use the postal address to send the prize to the winners. We will publish the winner's name and country in residence on our website and print the same information on karuta cards which will be a prize to the winners.

    We keep the submitted forms in our lockable file cabinet and store the entry data on our PD database which will be accessible only to Project Leader. We will not share any personal information with the third party.

    We cannot delete your name on your winning karuta card which was printed before your request.
